A Little Box of Bitterness

Well, the Nudie Girls have been through a lot in their quest to preserve Nudie's legacy, but we've kept most of the trials and tribulation hush, hush. Sort of a "If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all" philosophy -- oh, there have been outbursts here and there, but all and all we have tried to keep whatever public personas we have upbeat.

Still, as Hank Jr. once said "life sure get teejus, don't it?" and it has a way of wearing you down.

That is why I took to this article in the New York Times, about a designer who at the end of his rope, gave up the ghost and revealed that he was in fact a rather snarky blogger.

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/30/fashion/30EMPEROR.html

Entitled "How Do You Like Me Know?", it tells the tale of Eric Gaskins, his failed design house, and his blog http://emperorsoldclothes.blogspot.com/

So in his frustration he dishes the dirt, but keeps anonymous, creating a buzz about this unknown insider exposing the dark underbelly of the fashion industry.

For his moniker he uses the stripper trick of taking the name of a pet and adding a street were you live - hence, Fluff Chance.

BTW, for me this would produce "Chi Chi Mira Loma," "Jenny McFarlane," or "Lady Sahara"

The Times ends their report with - Exposing the views of Fluff Chance as his own, he said, is playing with fire. But he will keep writing, even though readers, knowing his identity as a designer who failed, may be tempted to dismiss his words as “a little box of bitterness.”

Sometimes, I like a little box of bitterness, so I checked out the blog. You see, the Nudie Girls have been featured a time or two in the New York Times ourselves, but it really didn't garner much attention for us. Of course, back then we didn't have a blog . . . but I digress.

The New York Times appears to have been kind to Fluff Chance, as his latest blog entry is downright upbeat! Entitled "Now That's What I Call A Coming Out" he writes
"It's good to be the King....even for just a day. Thanks everyone for stopping by for a visit. Time for this puss cat to get cozy and go nighty. I wish you all a warm and peaceful evening. Tomorrow is just that, another day.
night night." Sweet Dreams, your majesty.
